A:Answer No, you do not. However, the connecting wires I got with the soundbar plugged into the ear phone jack in my TV. I didn't care for that as if you muted the soundbar, the TV was muted also. If you get that, you may want to get an optical cable which plugs directly in the TV. This way if you mute the sound bar, the TV speakers still give you sound.
