• You can attempt to use a disk repair software, but it may not work. All you can do is try.

• It’s a great replacement for any 2.5” drive. Your MacBook Pro (assuming it has a 2.5” HDD inside), will run faster as you’ll have no disk lag.

• The issue isn’t going to be the enclosure. It’s usually a bad boot partition. You’re going to need a disc recovery utility of some sorts. I’ve used them to great success in the past with corrupt hard drives.
