Put your old drive in this case and plug it in, all that it takes. Then leave the old hard drive there for a nice external backup drive. Yes, it should work for you.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This product is for converting an internal 2.5 SATA HD into a usable external HD. You would need to remove the HD from your old laptop first. As long as the old HD is a 2.5 SATA drive it will fit the enclosure and you should be able to access the drive from another computer. However, it sounds like your drive may be corrupted in which case you may or may not be able to recover the files.
