Can this be used solely as a stand alone freezer? Also is the door reversible in opening? null

Door is not reversible, 
Yes that is whats great about it, it can be freezer or Refrigerator. I have lobs using it both ways.

We bought one two months back and use it only as a freezer. So far it is great, even without it being relatively low-cost.
Wish the door was reversible: it's not.
The only other negative are that the shelves are not adjustable and it would be nice to have another 1-2 shelves as you have to stack things pretty high to fill it up. We will be adding some of those plastic coated wire baskets to help sort and keep things stacked and organized.
