Does changing it to 144hz actually fix the issue? If not I am going to return mine.

Right click on desktop>Display Settings>Display adapter properties>Monitor tab>selec the "Generic PnP monitor" that has the option below in monitor settings to select 144 Hertz. This has solved the issue for me, I'm also purchasing a different displayport cable pre-emptively in case the issue persists, specifically one marketed as "Displayport 1.2"
