• There are a couple of adapters you may want to look at. One is a VGA to HDMI if your DVR has the VGA jack that used to be used for computers to hook up and extra screen. THe adapter for VGA to HDMI runs about $20-$30.

• I know there are boxes you can buy to accomplish what you want to do, but what I would do is call DirecTV and have them upgrade your box so you have an HDMI port from your DirecTV box to the TV.

• There should be a hookup ok that dvr box. Should be right in the middle. If you do not have one, then contact direct tv and let them know. They will send you a new one. This might be the old version and won't do your TV justice.

• You would need a composite to HDMI adapter. But I would contact DirecTV. Sounds to me like your box is outdated and should be replaced.

• My Direct TV DVR has an HDMI "out" slot and came with a cable for connection to my TV. I suspect you have a non-HD DVR. You will need to upgrade your DVR to HD DVR with Direct TV. It will be a change of hardware and probably an additional fee. You don't have to make the change but your recordings won't be HD quality on playback.
