Thank you for your inquiry! It’s perfectly fine that your Insignia™ 250 Sq. Ft. Portable Air Conditioner is running without any plugs in the drain ports or hoses connected, especially if you haven’t noticed any leaks or performance issues. These units are designed to evaporate most of the moisture they collect during cooling, particularly in environments with moderate humidity. The two drain ports serve different purposes: the upper port is typically used for continuous drainage in very humid conditions or when using the dehumidifier mode, while the lower port is for manually draining excess water if the internal tank fills up. If your unit is still blowing cold air and there’s no water pooling around it, that means the internal evaporation system is working efficiently. Just keep an eye out for any signs of water buildup or leaks, and you should be good to go. Keith | Insignia Support
