This unit exhausts air to the outside.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As near as I can tell, the unit sucks some indoor air through the unit and expels it, heated, through the hose to the outside. The fan is quite strong and appears to suck in the outside air through any leak, mouse hole or vent in your house, to replace the air that is being blown outside. If you open a door a crack, you can feel the air being sucked in when the unit is running. So, no, the air being sucked through the unit is not filtered coming into the house, but there are filters inside the unit. This system is less efficient than a window or central a/c since some of the cooled air is being wasted by being heated again and expelled.
