No - the cable on this adapter plugs into a source (i.e. a 3.5mm output / headphone jack) and carries that sound (music, podcast, etc.) through to the tape player in a home or car stereo. It essentially turns your tape player into an AUX-in by way of the tape cassette & cable, but it cannot take sound/signal from an already recorded tape and send it the other way (i.e. out the cable and into an input).
