Keep the freezer at zero. I used a refrig-freezer thermometer just after turning on and while still empty. Dial was set just a hint prior to the half way point (medium), and it reached zero pretty quickly. Gradually I increased to Medium-High, about 3/4 on the dial than filled it. I have yet to actually catch it running. It only kicks on if I open the door for more than 2 minutes. But recovers fast. Keep it full. The more full it is, the less it runs and the colder it stays. A freezer full of frozen foods give back their cold and keep it colder longer with less start up's.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is recommended to keep the freezer as packed as possible with a temperature of zero degrees.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The freezer should be kept at -0 degrees. Here is a link to an FDA article on keeping food safe in refrigerators and freezers. https://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm093704.htm
