You could but it will run longer and come on more often to maintain the temperature set and therefore use more energy and more wear & tear on the compressor . We had ours in the garage in Las Vegas for 3 years and the summers get above 110 and I'm sure the garage was hotter than that and things stayed frozen. Now we have a bigger house and have more room inside to bring it in.
