It could work but the first thing you should do is test the speakers with something you know works, like a phone or tablet. connect the speakers and see if you get sound. After that, the splitter should work to get multiple sounds options to work.

The point of the splitter cable is to plug into a stereo output jack and separate the left channel and the right channel. It either splits a stereo signal into left and right channel for output to your speakers, or emerges to monophonic signals from microphones into a stereo input which is why I bought it.
