An extension can generate heat, and cause a safety issue. David M. - Insignia Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The most likely problem is that the extension cord you are using is heating up because it is getting too hot while running so much electricity through too small of wire. Try to find an extension cord that is a bigger diameter cord than the one that comes on the unit. You might have an electrician make you one that can handle the load....or maybe he can install a new outlet near by designed for the extra current. This unit probably has a thermal switch that will turn itself off if it is heating up too much. Also, this unit has a remote with a “follow me” feature. The remote will tell you the temperature where the remote is, while the ac unit tells you the temperature where it is sitting. That might be causing some confusion. If you are unable to get it to work properly, take it back to Best Buy and they will get you a different one. But first, try it out in another location without an extension cord to make sure the extension cord is not the problem. Best of luck. Great unit! Charli
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The problem is that the cord is very short, and many applications will require use of an extension cord. If extension cords are disallowed, the power cord provided should be longer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.High power use machines are supposed to be plugged directly to an outlet and not an extension cord. This is also true for microwaves and refrigerators
