Not sure what you mean by "not programming" I stream and don't use cable so I use just the built in Fire TV and the tvs remote. It works flawlessly. I am in my late 60s and was nervous about going to streaming but local company ditched cable offerings there was a little about ten minute learning curve. I now have switched to Hulu, Netflix and Prime they all pop up in the firestick menu and its point and click after you put in your passwords once. This tv also has a great picture 1080.
