Virtually all TVs today are "smart" in the sense that they connect to the internet and can view programs using apps (like Amazon Prime or Netflix) very much like a computer or smart phone would do. They pretty much all have access to the same apps the way all phones do when they access an app store. Different TV brands use different operating systems just like phones can be android or apple. FireTV is simply Amazon's version of a smart TV. There are android smart TVs (Google) and there are proprietary like Samsung. The only difference is the look and feel. They pretty much all access the same apps, (i.e. you can still watch YouTube on a FireTV and watch Amazon Prime on a Google TV).
