“Can I play movie files from a USB Thumb Drive? Can I stream from my laptop using Airplay and Apple TV? If I can't do either on this model can you suggest one (27" to 32") that I can? Thank you.”

You can download the VLC for Fire app to watch movies from a USB thumb drive. You can connect an Apple TV box to one of the HDMI inputs on the TV.
