• The headphone jack would not add sound to speakers and the television, but would filter sound to those speakers.

• Yes, you can connect any type of audio device to this may using the 3.5mm jack. The port on the TV may not provide enough power to drive certain speaker so using speakers that provide their own power would ensure that they will work.
