This is a monitor, and will reproduce what you feed it. You have to feed it a 720P HD signal to get HD quality, so you will need an HD source.

The tv is capable of displaying an HD image at 720 resolution. To get that image quality you need the HD box with the hdmi cable. I am using an antenna to get HD over the air and picture quality is great.
