• It is a Micro USB port on the opposite side.

• Standard USB port connector. It plugs into an existing usb port. thereby giving you 3 extra. It is used , in my opinion, mainly to make the ports easier to access.

• Really simple.... The micro stands all by itself, in case you should need to plug for charging any item, that requires a small tiny port..... (Like the battery for your camera, your iPad, Your phone, and any toys. Any device requiring a small micro plug in can be set on the rear, using the proper connection. Hopefully this explanation should be should help....
