I don’t know the answer to that however I do know there is a 3.0 out there and I believe this question could be answered by an expert at Best Buy. You couldn’t ask for better customer service. I would get on their website and ask their opinion of the 3.0 I know if I was going to do that I would use the faster speed for sure, but I don’t know if it works with the TV

The reason is a flat-screen TV is not a computer, so the USB plug acts just as a plug; the TV doesn't have software to set up that USB port with software like on a laptop or desktop. That's how it works. Best of luck.
