I purchased the USB hub to allow me to connect a keyboard and mouse to my OLD PC that was located in my Bridgeport CNC milling machine. Since the PC is a Windows XP machine I cannot safely connect it to my network so I have to upload all files via thumb drive. The USB hub did exactly what it is supposed to do and that is provide extra USB ports. I decided to use a hub vice three or four USB cables since my Keyboard and Mouse are located on a tiny keyboard tray attached under a touch screen monitor and I had already used all available USB ports on the front of the PC. Additionally the USB hub is rugged and light, a requirement, since the location installed is not temperature controlled and full of vibrations from the milling machine. John C.

Well designed. Highly portable. USB 2.0 4 port hub. (takes one of your USB ports on your computer and gives you 4 USB 2.0 ports to use...) Requires no power to operate. PRO: .... requires no cumbersome additional AC cable (or USB for that matter since the 4", or so, USB cable is permanently attached, with it's own integrated storage for travel...) CON: ....probably won't have enough power to plug 4 USB 3.0, 2.5 " external HD's and work.... not to mention that you'd also loose the USB 3.0 speeds because this is a 2.0 Hub..... I use this Hub to plug all of my micro-USB receivers (for wireless mice, keyboards, Wacom tablet etc) into. This way i still have 3 USB 3.0 spaces available on my laptop and can use all of my wireless devices without having to pick and choose or constantly switch out every time i change tasks... Works like a charm, so, without hesitation....

My laptop has only three USB ports. Two of them are so close together, that I can only use one at a time. This hub gives me the chance to plug my mouse in next to the disc player and gives me the additional space to plug in memory sticks, etc. I usually use about four or five when I am trying to demonstrate a carving technique or show an article. The cost and reliability of this hub gives me the chance to share pictures and even make copies of plans for my friends. My laptop goes with me and this hub gives me a chance to readily share information as I want to. And it does NOT interfere with keeping the basic laptop stable for working. GREAT!

If you ONLY need a max of two or three usb ports with narrow pieces that plug into the port that you won't have to remove or exchange very often, this is good. The short cord makes the placement awkward for anything with a wider base that inserts into the port, and if using it with a laptop that is frequently moved, the cord flops around a great deal when you go to plug it back in. The power itself seems okay, but good only when three or fewer ports are being used.

Works just like it says it should. The cord is a little short, and hangs off my Surface, but luckily is light enough that it doesn't cause any problems. There is a spot on the back where you should be able to fit the USB plug in so it lays flat, but the cord doesn't reach to fit. Overall though, works for what I need it to. Seems to be a little laggy with just a wireless mouse and small thumb drive, so I'm not sure how well plugging 4 USB items would do.

Insignia usually makes good quality products and this USB hub isn't any different. I got this for my ancient MacBook Pro and Apple seems to hate USB ports. My MBP has just two and they are hogged by my wireless peripherals. The short USB cable on this hub keeps all my devices, charging cables, and external drive at hand. The placement of the ports suits my desk perfectly, with the external drives on the back and my wireless dongle and charging cable in the front. Only bad thing is that there aren't enough ports. It has space for at least 2 more ports and it feels like wasted real estate. Overall, great price, quality product. A good buy.

I love these. This is actually my second one, while the first I purchased a couple years back for my Mac mini. I purchased this one to use for my Mac Book pro in combination with my USB C adapter. Let’s face it, there are not enough pariphials that have a USB C connection. So with only having one adapter on hand, I’m able to connect other devices with this hub. My iPhone charges and transfers just as well using the standard lightning cable while using a Blu-Ray drive and or graphic tablet all at the same time. At such a great price, you can’t beat it.

I have a single USB port in the car console. Wasn't sure if this would work until I hooked it up. It turned out perfect. The hub is small enough to mount (with those 3M velcro like stickies) to the inside compartment of my car console. Run multiple USB to lightning/Nintendo 3DS/old style idevice wide connector cables to the hub under the cover. Amazingly, this transfers enough power from the built in port through the hub to charge the devices as well as allow the music to play via USB. Fit my needs perfectly. I had tried another slim hub previously (forget brand), but it didn't provide power to devices.
