It sounds like you are looking for some white noise in your bedroom, without the light from the screen? That is not possible however I can tell you that you can set a function that without setting a sleep timer that will shut the TV off after a predetermined time in one and one and half increments if the TV doesn't detect any activity, like channel changes or basically any use of buttons on the remote.
