A:AnswerThe menu option allows for display settings that will help combat glare. That being said, those changes rarely work 100%. I would consider (1) a "cap" for the T.V. that attaches to the side and or top. Black poster board cut about 2" wide and attached to the side that the sun is on works great. It can fold back and out of the way when not needed, and fold up to block some sun in worst conditions. and (2) a lamp on the OPPOSITE side as the sun...it is a more expensive option, but light coming from the opposite side will reduce the glare too. Start with the free adjustments to the display settings!

A:AnswerI would get a new one. The cost to fix is outrageous and usually getting a new one is cheaper. It is more than likely the main board for the T.V. which is not cheap.
