No more then a minute each time you run it, but if you are not using filtered water on ice production, ( I don't recommend ) you will probably need to clean it a few times a week. Cleaning solution: 1 part white vinegar 1 part filter water, run 2-3 cycles without draining, then just run clean filtered water for an additional 2-3 cycles and drain/add clean filter water each time.
