CRI is Color Rendering Index, and is a measure of how much of the color spectrum the light emits. CRI ranges from 0 to 100, with 100 meaning full spectrum light like the sun. Typical CFL bulbs have a CRI of 80. Incandescent bulbs have a CRI of 97. CRI is unrelated to return on investment (ROI). I just wanted to know the CRI of this bulb before I buy one.

An article at wwwdotreutersdotcom estimates yearly energy cost at $1.57 per year based on 3 hrs use per day and $0.11/kw-Hr. Under the same assumptions, a 60W incandescent will use $7.23 per year. Ignoring the fact that an incandescent bulb will need to be replaced periodically, the breakeven time is 3years. After 3 years the Insignia LED is cheaper.
