“Happy with the cooling level BUT.....it makes the most ridiculous noises I’ve ever heard! We have it in our master bedroom and it’s got to the point of waking me up! What does it sound like? Baby seals! Why is it doing this AND can it be fixed?”

I am surprised because mine is so quiet. I would guess there is something wrong. It may have been damaged or had a manufacturing defect.
