Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have NOT used an external alarm with this freezer, but previous experience tells me that its not a good idea. If the air seal around the probe wire isn't perfect, you will indeed get frost forming inside the freezer, and likely condensation forming on the first few inches of the probe wire outside the freezer. If having an alarm is important to you, I'd recommend a (much more expensive) freezer that is already set up for that. OR, have an experienced appliance repairman install one for you, through a drilled and reinsulated hole through the cabinet.
