“Does the tv always go to the fire home screen upon start up and can you change it to be the last input you watched? I have uverse and when you turn the tv off, then back on it's not the last input, it's the home screen.”

You can choose between home screen or last input in the "display and sound settings"
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If the only two choices are "Home" and "Last Row" you need to update the firmware. That means the TV needs Internet access. Once it's done with the update if "Last Input" is selected, select "Home" then select "Last Input". Mine still acted as if the "Last Row" option was still available until I did that last step.
