      It really doesn't matter, as long as the same wire is connected to the same colored terminal at each end. Personally, I use the silver wire for the black terminals, and the copper wire for the red terminals. Easier to remember that way...

        Speaker wire is dependent on the length of the run to the speaker and the quality of the sound you want from the speakers. You can spend thousands of dollars on exotic speaker wires for a little definition in the sound. The manual states that up to 20 ft an 18 gauge wire is fine with 16 and 14 gauge for longer runs. I would buy the lower gauge and put connectors on the ends for general use and if you are not a critical listener then the 18 gauge is probably just fine.

        It means that one wire is marked, typically with a stripe, to denote negative or positive. Most applications use the striped side as the negative, like speakers. By now you probably figured this out. Question asked 1 year & 1 month ago.
