This cable should hook into your headset port on your laptop then run to the audio in on your television! It should work! I was able to hook up my surround sound speakers from my desktop to my television with this cable and it works great!

I've experienced the same problem with hdmi on my laptop and my pc. 9 times out of 10 switching to a better hdmi cable resolves the issue. But, it may just be your audio drivers, as well. I'm not going to do tech support here. But, you might see about updating your audio drivers, first.
