This isnt an HDMI it's an extension for the controllers which only have a 3 ft cord making it impossible to play unless you're sitting infront of the console

The game console connects to the TV with HDMI. These cables connect between the game console and the controller, so you can be 6 feet further away from the console as you play. You don' need them if you don't mind sitting very near the console, but I liked being able to sit further away.

An HDMI cable does come with the NES to hook it up to your tv or monitor. This is a different product that connects to the controller port on the front of your NES, linking it to the controller to add 6 glorious feet of distance to the controller cable. You obviously can use the controller hooked into the NES directly. It's just shorter. So, you don't NEED to purchase it to get anything to work. However, I highly recommend it. I like the extra 6 feet of cable.

If you are playing from a close small screen then no but if you want to move around or lay down and your tv isn’t close to you then I would recommend getting them.These cords are for the controllers.An HDMI cord does come with it but it’s also not really long.
