Yes you can. Take an optical cable out of the tv, into an optical digital converter box ($20-$30), and then rca cable from converter into your receiver. Depending on the tv you have, you may have to go to audio settings and switch the audio output. Sometimes it needs to be switched to pcm mode on tv. Especially with Samsung TVs.
