“We have the Insignia NS-32DF310NA 19 Fire TV edition. I want to hook up my Kenwood KR-V8030 to it & my Samsung Blu Ray DVR so that we can listen to Stereo TV. It says to connect external speakers that's what I would need. Is that correct?”

Use the optical cable to connect your tv's sound (optical) output to the sound bar, you will see the difference right away.
