- Answer Yes. It works well on an iMac with a USB-A port. Some newer Macs only have USB-C ports that this is not compatible with. Other new macs have both ports so it depends. See photo for A vs C. The type C is much smaller and has rounded corners. Your iMac must have the Type A port which is larger and more squared off.
