• The cables are interchangeable.mine was bought to replace an existing cable for a camera system to a monitor.

• This is a VGA cable. so it would depend on if both your monitor and computer have vga ports on them. VGA ports kind of look like the joystick ports on the old Atari 2600 game systems.
