Hey Murf! Thanks for inquiring about our Insignia™ - 65" Class F30 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV. Yes, you can do that. But it's important to note that it is normal for the TV to turn off if there is a static image on the screen for a period of time. This is to meet various regulatory requirements for power consumption. If you want to display a picture for a long time, I suggest using a computer or another device connected using HDMI. The Fire TV Edition television should stay on as long as it has a video signal is playing on the screen. I hope this helps. - James | Insignia Support | https://www.bestbuy.com/site/brands/best-buy-brands/pcmcat1596746025285.c?id=pcmcat1596746025285
