Any type of refrigeration equipment should never be laid on its side for transport. This is because of the refrigerant in the closed system; if it is allowed to lay on its side, when the unit starts up the compressor could be dry (since gravity will cause the refrigerant to pool in the lowest possible spot while it is in this position). If you absolutely must transport this unit on its side, you will have to let it sit upright for several hours before plugging it in.
