Hello EH, We recommend to always locate appliances such as the Chest Freezer in a suitable location where the room temperature is average to prevent any damage or malfunctions with your unit. Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Whereas extremely cold temperatures may also prevent the freezer from performing properly. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's supposed to be a garage ready freezer as advertised, so I don't know why some are saying it won't run as well in the garage. That's why I purchased mine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I kept my chest freezer in my Florida garage, in Tampa Bay, for 9 years and it was still running well when I sold the house. I left it for the new owner. Garage was not climate controlled. I made sure I defrosted it every year.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Ours has been fine in the garage. Maybe they are worried about condensation in the summer heat. But I would imagine that would be the case with any freezer. It has been 80 degrees and we have seen no condensation. Or maybe they hit it with their car.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This unit probably does not have a heater on the compressor. in the garage in the winter the compressor will not run when the garage is below ~40 degrees.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This appliance is rated as a "garage ready" freezer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It might work it too hard in extra heat. Shorten the life.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Putting a regular freezer or fridge in the garage can make the compressor work too hard because of extreme swings in heat/cold and humidity. There are freezers that are built to withstand the extra load, but you will pay a bit more. Yes you can put any freezer in the garage, but it may not last as long or be as effective so spending a bit more is definitely worth it in the long run! It isn't hard to find garage-rated freezers anymore.
