We have had it about 3 months and there is not a speck of frost in it yet. Yes it is an extra freezer. No it is not opened daily but probably about 2 to 3 times a week I would say. We are very happy with it so far. I would recommend this to my friends. Be sure to bring it down to temp before filling. (about 3 to 5 hrs for first use).. Hope this helps U out !
