• Yes, it will work. There's logic between the two to ensure your phone won't attempt to pull more wattage than the brick can supply. And this only matters if you are using the USB C port. If you use A to C, the port only puts out 12W anyway.

• Don't do it. BB sold me a 72 w charger as a replacement for my 65 w charger, and it overheats my laptop so much that the laptop shuts down from the heat. I'm concerned also that it may cause damage to the wiring of the laptop.
