Hey Mark, I haven’t experience this with mine and purchased mine recently, as well. I’ve heard if you have more than 1 set in the home, then one remote may trigger another. I’d exchange it; if it happens again, could be a signal jamming somewhere in your home. If it doesn’t, it was a defective unit. D
