“Is the screen open on the back side so you could set the projector back there and reverse the image and shine it on there like you would a sheet and it would come through on the front? See the attached picture to see what I mean. Thanks!”

It is open, but the material is too thick (which is good since it is rugged) to reverse project. Besides, the viewable space from the back is only about 70% of the screen size since the blow up border supports part of the back of the screen. But the price and quality is very good.
