• it runs the whole time. With my setup, I use a sound bar and can't hear the pump running.

• Hello, The air pump runs the whole time. Basically think of it as a bounce house. I was a little worried about how loud it was going to be but was surpriseed with how quiet it was. Did not bother the movie sound at all.

• Air pump runs the whole time. It's a fairly quite pump though. I tried to seal it off once full, but the material is porous and designed for pumping air to keep it upright.
