I wore a rubberized glove to easily slide the cover in the direction of the embossed arrow.  No issues.

Opening the mouse is hard. I pushed until I saw a separation then used a jeweler's screwdriver to finish prying it open. It popped right open

The arrow is backwards and it needs grip traction treads to help. Poor design
