• Yes. The battery is just to keep the time on the clock in case of power outage. You need to plug it in to an electric outlet to make it work.

• Yes!! I like that the display is green, not the common red normally seen. I really enjoy the large display. Simple....not a "smart" clock for us middle-aged folks.
