“Does the battery back up radio or just the alarm? Hi. I'm trying to find a speaker for my iPhone 5 that has a radio with a battery back up. Basically, i want to be able to listen to the news in the event the power goes out. Will this work? thank you.”

• No. Only to keep time. Needs power for all functions. You need non powered speakers witch will drain the phone quickly.

• Yes. This will work.. I'm not sure it still will charge your iPhone but you will still be able to listen the radio even without power
