Can you use a Microsoft plug and play cable to charge the insignia batteries? I currently have one plug and play battery cable for the XBox One and was wondering if this would also Charge the Insignia Batteries (in case the battery where to die during a long play session) since you are not able to play while it is being charged in the stand.

No....the play and charge batties have charging pins on the topp of the battery near the contacts....the insignia batteries have the charging pins on the side where they can touch the cradle

The answer is no if the battery dies during play you'll have to pull the extra battery it comes with out of the other controller or pre charge the other battery before u play I usually play for 8 to 10 hours at a time and the first betters usually holds a charge the whole time

I'm not sure that would work in that the charger comes with special backings for the batteries that come with it.

I went out and bought another Xbox controller so that if it does give out the other is charging and can be turned on and used quickly
After getting a full charge on this I can play at least 6 hours on the one controller and this is on games like Destiny and Halo

i really don't know. the Microsoft plug cable might work allowing to use the controller as a wired controller. if you have the cable i would use it only for their battery. all changing battery have warning labels. like use with specified chargers only. a modify could cause a short circuit and cause a fire. to the controller and passably to your Xbox one. don't know if warranties cover tampering.
the Insignia dual charger comes with two battery. i would have one charge most of the time. then when needed you could always swop too the other battery. just as you would do with a regular battery.

You don't need the play and charge the batteries came with a stand. if you don't have a stand then return the batteries and demand the version with the stand.

Maybe if the back of the pack matches the charge station it's self but I wouldn't count on it
