I have a Navigon 5100. It requires that while connected with the car adapter it does not automatically go into data transfer mode. This keeps the user from being able to simultaneously charge and use the GPS functions while driving. Will this work? null

I'll answer my own question. Yes, this does allow charging only while in use. It does not place the GPS into data transfer mode. Excellent! This is both with the USB cable only, or plugged into the charger plug or another USB charger. At least on my unit, I would need to switch to a standard USB cord for data transfer.
