Is this remote RF null

Based on what I have read FireTV remotes like this are RF (Radio Frequency) you can use it to control the Fire TV without being in the same room. This is not IR like universal.

When the remote is not paired it works using IR, when the remote is paired it works using Bluetooth technology.
