• No, the bracket can be mounted directly into drywall as long as you purchase the correct style anchors. They make specific drywall anchors that can hold up to 70lbs, I used 4, 1 in each corner. A bit overkill i know for a 17lb t.v but better safe then sorry.

• No. Dry wall anchors can be used but I don't trust the ones that came in the package. I suggest going to your local hardware store and getting heavy duty anchors.

• Yes, it needs to be secured into a stud. You will need a stud finder. You only secure it in the middle, so you only need to find one stud.
